~* The Latest of the Greatest Creations and a New Segment for the Garden Lovers *~

Aloha and welcome back, friends! I kindly thank you for tuning in, and, please please, don’t mind the gap between the last post date and this one >.>  It’s been quite a past year (year?), but I am officially back. Now, let’s party.

In the Name of the Moon, I shall… Either compose a letter or pretty up my face! :p

We all know I’m a weirdo, right? Right. Well my weird self loves goofy hair things too, and while I am not brave enough to dye it anymore (shouts out to all you peeps with cool hair), I am resourceful enough to still make it quirky, and what better than incorporating Sailor Moon into the mix?

Now see, I have this habit of sticking a pen in my hair, and one day the light bulb went off… Moonstick Pen. After multiple attempts wrestling with clay and a hollow pen, and much hair pulling, I finally perfected the Moonstick Pen.

Moonstick Pen

Ta Da! Love it. Not much else to say here.

A few days ago, I got a message on Etsy asking about a custom order for a Moonstick make up brush. When this order came in, I was floored because it was such an ingenious idea, and is why I have to give a shout out and thanks to my new friend Catherine. She’s got really cool taste in make up and kawaii accessories, check her out on Instagram. I bet we will be seeing some more collaborations in the near future. 🙂

IMG_2360

The stars on the make up brush are a lot larger because I wanted them to be flamboyant, other than that it’s basically the same structure as the pen, with a little tricky toaster oven baking work going on.

And now for a side journey.

Let’s back up to the past a bit. After I had made enough Moonstick pens that I didn’t want to touch them for a while, I came up with another idea for a pen. This one, though, is not suited for sticking in hair buns. Iiiiiit would snag a little.

I wanted to make a pen that looked like a whimsical celestial piece of art. I believe I accomplished that feat, now, taking pictures of dark objects with only light backgrounds, not exactly my forte’, so don’t mind the contrast here -_-;; Still learning how to use my camera, folks.;

Wand Pen

The color is actually a very deep purple-ish blue. Swirling around betwixt the moons and stars are gemstone beads, and on top a terminated quartz.

Wand Pen TopClose

Here’s a view more suited for my friends in Australia.

Purse Charms!

These are just a couple of fun charms for a purse or backpack, incorporating my favorite things and just enough bling. Do people still say that..bling?

Chunky Charm

Sweets galore here! I kinda got hungry putting this one together, hehe.

Charm Moonstick simpleish

It’s like, a miniature version of the one above, but better with a mini Moonstick. I believe this would be best suited for Chibiusa’s taste. :p

These purse charms are so much fun to make, I hope they can find a good home soon. They, will everything else above, will be in the Etsy shop within a few days.

Moving on to our new segment, How’s that Garden Lookin’ Lately?

And this is How the Garden is Lookin’ Lately.

Thank you for keeping with me for this whole post, it’s been fun leading up to this moment.

Not only do I love to create with crafts, I also love making places beautiful with nature, growing plants, watching seeds sprout before your very eyes. It’s a magical thing to behold, the evolution of plants and the area which they inhabit. I would like to share with the readers, friends, families, and newbies, the best place to sit back, enjoy time with friends, and sip on a nice cold beverage, DecoJenn’s Garden.

It’s got a few different little “areas”, per say. Today’s tour will feature the most grandiose and exquisite of them. But first, here is the view from my “living room chair”.

Garden View I

Okay Okay I still stink at this whole taking pictures thing and I know you’re like Holy Some Kind of Exposure, Batman! This is gonna have to do for now. Though, I do promise the reset of the pictures are better ^_^

Cactus Garden

This is the Cactus Garden, variety, Prickly Pair, as the little sign on the top right of the square pots denotes :p All of these guys came from a single plant, in the container above the garden gnome’s spot. At night, the light in the bottom center provides color changing light, which is quite fun. I’ll try to snap a night time pic of the scene for a later post.

Buddha Cart

The Buddha Cart. It has been in my care for many years. We have pictured here, Young Buddha, in case anyone was wondering..(Yes people have come to my place and asked why he is skinny -_-) This is when he was an adolescent going through his acquiring of wisdom phase, from what I understand. Either way, I try to keep the cart adorned with flowers, which means it changes often. In fact, it has changed since I snapped the pic!

Luminesence Tigerlilly

Check out the amber glow on the statue there. This was totally done by coincidence. The birdbath got a new home, and the rest flowed along.

Thank you for your patronage and see ya soon ^_^ … for real this time ….

P.S. Hi Cam!!!! *waves*

*~Custom Decoden Phone Case Phase 2 and 3: Resin Pieces and Frosting~* + *~Cam Case: Attempt 2 ^-^;;;~*

^_^ Hi everybody, welcome back again to my little corner of the internet. It’s been a long week, and once my 7 day in a row work-a-thon was over, I could finally press forward with the custom order iphone 6plus case.

The top left hand corner's image is the logo of Japanese boy band Arashi, and of course the other two are from Mario Brothers. They have not been properly domed yet so they will appear much much shinier after that part of the process.

Next step is to map out a rough draft of where all the cabochons will go. I have this problem of trying to be too symmetrical sometimes xD so I hope this is organized-chaos-y enough

The Frosted Case with all Cabochons, Gems, and Other Goodies in Place:

This is it! I really really hope she likes it. :) I tried not to go too overboard this time around and keep the theme of Swords and Sweets.

The clay pieces, resin pieces, and painted cabochons will be coated in resin either tomorrow or sometime within the next couple of days The resin coating makes the case’s pieces incredibly durable AND stand out like shining diamonds. I will post a pic when that process is complete and cured as well.

Special Guest Phone Case Appearance: Cam Case Take 2.

This is a custom order for a friend of mine. The last case I made for her went up on my etsy as “Going off the Rails of a Crazy Case” because it just ended up looking like… too much, a mess, and it didn’t really fit her personality. I put the case on Etsy just in case (haha) someone else might like it. You know what? It sold less than a week later. :O Totally surprised me but I was thankful nonetheless.

What's special about this case is that I used a lot of little pieces that I had made when I was first starting out kawaii crafting. The moonstick, pretzel, cake slice, donut, and lollipops are all some very first attempts and I thought she might appreciate getting a little slice of history on her case. Hope ya like it, chica!

It also has some tiny seashells because she lives on an island and loves that island life. :p Hope ya like it, chica!

Stay tuned for next week when we see what the cases will look like with their cabochons sealed in resin!

~*Chibi Act Two: Ami-Chan*~ Sailor Moon Desserts Replica Series

Hi everyone! ~ヾ(^∇^) Welcome back to DecoJenn’s Cafe :3

Sorry for the kind of long hiatus. Life has been a little crazy. between switching jobs, and revamping the Etsy store, I’ve been pretty preoccupied lately. Yesterday though, I finally sat down, conquered my fears, and tackled the next in the Sailor Moon Dessert Series. Honestly, I was very intimidated by this project, it was something I have never really tried with clay, but I must say I am happy with how it turned out! 🙂

Chibi Act Two – Ami-Chan (Sailor Mercury) – Creme de Menthe Ice Cream

Hey look, I learned how to use my camera, at long last!!!

Hey look, I learned how to use my camera, at long last!!!  The cup, ice cream, curly cues, shiny balls, and plate were very meticulously made out of polymer clay.

On the left is Katharina's original dessert, and on the right my chibi version.

Katharina’s original dessert is completely edible, aside from the plate. That’s amazing! I totes want a chocolate cup, don’t you?  :p

What is this, dessert for ants!?

Let. Me. Tell. You. About. Those. Curly Cues. >_<”’ I must have redone them over 7 times, and on the last try, I got lucky they came out as good as they did. Actually, the curly cues got lucky as well, since their predecessors ended up angrily squished and thrown into the trash in a fit of frustrated rage. The shiny balls were really fun to make. I used an artificial sugar to make them look like the original-ish. (I do not know what this “artificial sugar actually is, though I have a sinking suspicion that it is sand. >_> If anyone knows, please comment below ^_^)

You can find Katharina’s hilarious original post and recipe in the link below. 🙂

Thanks for checking out this post! Take it easy, my friends!

^^ What’s Up Guys? or What I Have Been Working on Lately ^^

~(=^‥^)ノ Hello everyone and welcome to my little internet corner! Today’s blog post is named after one of my favorite anime theme songs, What’s Up Guys from Bakaretsu Hunters sung by Megumi Hayashibara (my all time favorite Japanese singer) and some guy. I love to sing this song, even though I have never seen the anime ;>.>

Anyways, on with the pictures!

Cakes and Sweets

These are some colorful cakes I made at work. I am trying a new method for the texturing that hopefully makes them look more realistic. They are tiny charms, smaller than a quarter.

These are so much fun to make, I just love them.

Sandwich cakes are so much fun to make, I just love them. Oh, I made the plate too, and the table is a repainted dollar store dollhouse furniture piece.

This is a mint chocolate cake with cherries on top. I can't stand real cherries, but they are very easy to make, hehe. Honestly can't decide if this piece would sell or not, so it's just kind of floating around my work area like a lost puppy.

These are tiny little candy sweets for tea time. I really just wanted to make something small and yellow at the time. The doilies were also made by me. Though they are quite fragile, it's nice to have a method for creating my own miniature doilies.

These were made with a ton of translucent clay mix with a tiny bit of yellow-y tan, to get that real live cake look. They are up for sale in my Etsy store right now, probably not for long though!

Pendants

These are made with polymer clay and resin over the stickers. I haven't glazed the clay yet nor decided if I should add paint accents or bling rhinestones. The bottlecap is for scale, I couldn't find my quarter at the time and didn't feel like digging through piles of craft mess. >.<;;

Resin

This is one of many, many My Little Pony resin pieces to come. The stars inside are candy sprinkles. ^-^ I have actually been making a ton of resin lately, and I thought I had more pictures, though that seems not to actually be the case. In the future I will do an all resin post. I've got some neat tricks up my sleeve, wait till ya see 'em!

Now that I am all nostalgic from listening to 90’s anime music while writing this post, it’s a good time to kick back and watch Get Backers!

Have a nice day everyone and stay tuned for the next Chibi Act – Sailor Mercury!

** Introducing Sailor Moon Dessert Replica Miniatures ** or … ~**Chibi Act One – Usagi**~

Hello ~ヾ(^∇^) Welcome to DecoJenn’s cafe! *^_^*

Today I have some exciting news! Let me give a little background to better explain it.

One day while browsing the Reddit, I saw some most excellent home-made and completely original Sailor Moon desserts. Immediately I thought how awesome it would be to make little miniature versions of them, so I contacted my new friend Katharina at A Pretty Cake Machine and she gave me the green light on recreating her desserts from clay!

This is the first in the series, with the rest to follow as time goes on. Since these are smaller versions, each new sweets replica will be titled a “Chibi” act, as chibi is Japanese for “small or little” (for those of my readers who are not Japanese lingo savvy :P)

Now on with the show!

Chibi Act One – Usagi (Sailor Moon) – Creampuff Cake

Please ignore the TV lookin lines! I took the images in this post with my mobile phone and not the fancy camera, so they are a bit wonky.

Mini version with the original in the background

The cake is sitting on a quarter for scale… It is tiny! Also I promise there will be better pictures next time >.<

The real Creampuff Cake can be found at the link below. I suggest everyone check it out and see how this decadent treat is made. 🙂

Thanks for reading, have a nice day, and see you next time!

❅☃ Post Holiday Update :D ☃❅

(‘-‘*)オヒサ♪ Long time, no see.

We had some very busy holidays around here in Deco-Kitty central.(´~`)

In the past couple months, I have made ~65 batches of chili (Jk, it’s prolly closer to 8, but it feeeeels like more), been on multiple road trips, gone through 2 fits of a bad cold, met multiple members of my boyfriend’s family (*≧▽≦)オハツでっす♪, planted herbs for cooking with, and began the Spring cleaning. Phew!

Anyways, enough rambling, on with the show!

The first piece is a character from Monster High, Abbey Bominable, the daughter of the Yeti. Unbeknownst to most of my friends, I really like the Abominable Snowman, Jack Frost, the Snow Queen, and other characters that deal with coldness/ice/snow, though I am not sure why since I can’t stand cold weather. xD So, given that fun fact, I decided to craft this character first for my upcoming Monster High series, because she’s my favorite character so far.

Yay first image which I tried to add a little extra flair to the foreground :) I am trying to make my pictures look better.

Of course I couldn’t stay away from making Sailor Moon stuff for long, right?

This is Sailor ChibiMoon's Crystal Carillon. I carefully crafted it so that the bells rings clearly ^_^

The sword on the left is called Kaleidomoon Scope (not sure why). I've really liked that weapon and always wanted a miniature toy version of it, so I got to make my own ^_^ On the left is Sailor Venus' transformation wand.

I made two bells and two Chibimoon wands so I can keep one and give the other to a friend. She also ordered the Sailor Venus wand and a few other things. (’-’*) フフ Big shout out to Cam-O-Chan for the encouragement and support!!!

When I showed my boyfriend the Sailor Moon sword, he reminded me that he had requested an Adventure Time sword, but that was right around when I first started crafting with clay, and I had forgotten since then |・ω・`)コッショリ So I figured after I made me a sword, I would make him a sword, which means we both got swords! Yay! Sword fight!

This is Fin with his Demon Blood Sword. Feels kinda weird typing that amidst all this pink and glitter on the blog :p

The next pictures were taken with the cell phone, so I apologize for the quality. They were gifted as Christmas presents or had to be delivered quickly before I decided to take on the camera again.

These were given to my BF's twin sisters. I think they came out really adorable

The reason I made this is because the BF's grandma crafted him a quilt for Christmas. It was even featured in a quilt show! Anyways, since she was giving the quilt to him, I wanted to try and replicate the pattern on clay for her :) She loves Mickey Mouse so I combined the two for this piece.

And lastly, in honor of the Chinese/Lunar New Year, we have some lucky red envelopes that will be given to my friends when I see them 😀

It was a lot of fun painting the pictures on these. In fact, so much fun that I had contemplated making another batch!

✯✈ Sailor Evan Art!! ✈☃

A few weeks ago, one of my favorite Youtubers requested that people draw him as a Sailor Moon character and he will send gifts in trade. Well, since I was too lazy to draw (go figure), I made him out of clay. Here is the video announcing the trade offer:

ヘ(^_^ヘ)(ノ^_^)ノ

Moving on, here are the images.

This is how he began. Look, there's even a neck hehe. He reminds me of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. :p

Whilst waiting for the weather to be a little less frosty (ie not mailing it out for a couple days), Evan said in another video that he really likes the tambourine that the characters use, my immediate thought was: Challenge Accepted.

I didn't realize the image was so blurry when I took this picture, so my apologies for that. This is Sailor Jupiter's tambourine and I think it came out pretty good for a first try! :D

☪ ☪ Sailor Moon Charms and No Face ☪ ☪

Hello, friends!

This week, I decided to make some Sailor Moon charms for myself, since the others ones I made went up for sale.

Crisis Locket necklace charms

...and earrings :) Next time I am going to make another true-to-size brooch, but I'm keeping that one :p

Here is the original version from the cartoon:

For the “gems” in the following, I used real stones to give them a more real life feeling. Hey, who can say gemstones aren’t cool, too!?

I call this one the "star brooch". The one one the left is a chunkier version and the right more flat. They are necklace charms.

Last but not least we have an army of No Faces. Painting them was quite tricky so I made a few to get practice. While they aren’t perfect, I think they will do for now. There are still 2 literal no faced No Faces in the “studio”, so they will be my chance to redeem myself :p

☻☻UPDATE !!!! Good things have been happening. ☻☻

Sorry I have been away so long, friends!

m(_ _)m ゴメンナサイ

Here is the good news though, I have my clay figures in a couple of real life stores now 🙂 🙂 People have been telling me to use Etsy, but it just feels like a big garage sale to me. I figure it is a lot more prestigious to say “yes my work is at (name of store)”, than “yeah I’m in the sea of other crafters on Etsy. Also, people who want to buy can see the charm first, so that is another plus. Edit 2015- I broke down and made an etsy shop to more easily connect with people who are interested in my art. While I still hold that there are some garage sale-y things on the site, and I will continue to vend locally, it is very convenient to use the site for branching out.

This is not to say that I will not do custom orders through the internet though. In other words, if you want something seen on my blog or a custom job done, you can Email Me

Anyways, it took me about two weeks to get everything done to put in the stores. The first week focused solely on Sailor Moon items. Unfortunately I didn’t have the time to take fancy pictures of everything so here is one image of all the pieces before they were delivered to their temporary home:

My favorite ones are the pentacles with gemstones in them and the big huge brooch with wings on it. The yellow little heart with wings was quite tricky to make. Everything else I have pretty much done enough times that I've got a system down. Hehe SOAD.

The second trip out to town I delivered these to their temporary home with the items above:

This is a Luna P ball. My friend requested one so I went ahead and made a few extras to put in the store. They are super fun to make for some odd reason. I think it's the goofy eyes and antenna.

Thanks for coming back after such a long hiatus. Now that the assembly line to hurry and get things produced for stores is shut down, there will be more regular updates at DecoJenn.com 🙂

I also wanted to add that when you click on a small image, the pop up will be an even larger image. Thank you boyfriend for helping me crop and edit the pictures better 😛
