!.:.*Cafe Official Sneak Peak*.:.!

Hi everyone! *waves* Today I have some super exciting pictures to share, so let’s get right to it!

Table for Two? Right this way. :3

Table for Two? Right this way. :3

Decided to give the table a cloth, which is actually a doily.

Decided to give the table a cloth, which is actually a doily.

Don't mind the mess on the left, the cook just got a little frustrated and flipped a table.

Don’t mind the mess on the left, the cook just got a little frustrated and flipped a table.

The lighting varies because I spent over 2 hours trying to get it right. The top picture seems to look the best, now if I can just remember which settings I used to acheive that look ^-^”

In the first and second pictures, I used the same small table, but I am not sure if the table looks better with or without the cloth. What do y’all think? I like the small thickness for seating and the long for displaying cakes. too bad I have only one of that particular table.

The third picture has a tea set with a cake roll to the left, and the first picture features the same one. The cake is a cell phone charm, as you can see with the string in the tea cup. :p Anyways, the whole point of this major project is making a nice scene to display the little cake charms, particularly to sell them. I am not sure if it looks better with the tea set (might be washed out with too much white), or alone on the table for two. Oh, the major decisions in life.

As always, feedback is welcomed and appreciated, even though no one really leaves comments anymore *sad face*.

Have a nice day, and stay dry this weekend to all the locals!

.:.*Weekend Project and a Little Extra*.:.

Hello my friends, I hope everyone survived the cold cold weekend, and to those of you in warmer climates, I am totes jelly.  .·´¯`(>▂<)´¯`·. On the bright side though, this cold weather should soon get me in the holiday spirit, which means festive winter clay pieces will be on the way. I’ve already had one customer at work asking where my Christmas earrings are, so I should deliver soon. :p

The cake army production has finally come to a hault. There are now enough to fill the cafe, which is nearly complete itself. Since no one has left any suggestions on how to swank-i-fy the scene, I am left to my own imagination, which is currently frozen due to the weather, hehe. I do have one small cake image to share, though.

A fancy coffee cake, so tiny it fits on the tip of your finger.

On the resin front, Jackie and I finally finished up her Frozen pieces and they look awesome. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a picture before they went to her house, but I will perhaps upload  a potato pic later on.

While the Frozen resin was happening, I started my own new line of what I like to call “Ice Crystal Pendants”. They are made with a clear background and slightly bundled glitter, so they look kind of like ice and the glitter gives a cystalline effect.

Hello Kitty with a pea pod, it's a bit larger than a quarter.

Finally we have the big Weekend Project, which I worked on during football. I take a tray and some supplies, set them up on the couch, and watch the games while working. It’s a pretty neat set up since I get to craft, see the games, and spend time with my boyfriend. ❤ 🙂

Taste the Rainbow. :D

Taste the Rainbow. 😀

The little cameo frames on the right came from a mold that I made from a cheapy cabochon and the wings on the right a made from a mold of wings I ordered off Etsy. I am intending to make the cameos into necklaces and the wings into hairclips, then sell or wear them as matching sets. 🙂 I’ve wanted the wing clips for a really long time so I am super excited to have them in a variety colors. As for the cameos, I will probably put Monster High, Hello Kitty, and Sailor Moon pictures in them.

As always, thanks for reading and feel free to leave feedback in the comments. I love to hear from people, including you! ( ^_^)/Ciao!

*~ Cafe Painting Update, Massive Mini Cake Army, and Frozen Resin with my Friend :) ~*

Good day, everyone. Hope you are all staying warm on this most chilly of days. I hear you Yankees mumbling about Texas not being cold, shush! We don’t do cold down here in the land of iced tea and bar-b-que!

Speaking of being cold, my friend Jackie came by the Art Lab with some Frozen stickers yesterday and began making her first resin peices! She is a huge fan of the movie, so we hunted down the stickers and ended up in a Frozen gold mine at FiveBelow. If anyone is looking for Frozen merchandise, head to FiveBelow, stat. Anyways, here is an image of the process so far. Personally I think she did great with the colors and glitters. 🙂

Poor Olaf's arm got torn but I am going to fix it today. The Anna and Elsa look great with the snowy background. Perhaps we will add some snowflakes to the right hand side. :)

In other art news, as the title suggests, I have amassed an army of miniature cakes to put on display in the cafe. I take a little travel pack of clay and tools, set up shop at work, and make cakes whilst doing my job. *snicker snicker* puttin’ in double time over here .>:) These cakes will also go up for sale on my etsy, as soon as the cafe is finished and can display them.

Everyone's favorite is the eclair. Thanks Frozen friend for the suggestion :))

Lastly, we have some images of the cafe progress. I think it’s coming along great from its hot pink beginnings. Hey, I love me some hot pink, but my cafe needs to be swanky.

Here is the dining side as shown in the last blog post.

The baking side, complete with stone oven. See those things on the shelf? Yeah, I am seriously dreading painting those. xD

If anyone has sugestions for the floor color, or how to make it look more Victorian-Aristocratic-esque, please please leave me a comment or drop me a line through other means.

Thanks for stopping by! Until next time, stay warm and keep smiling! 🙂

DecoJennDotCom: Back from the Dead (or so it seems :p)

Hi everyone out there in Bloglandia! Once again I am here with one of those “sorry it’s been so long” posts, so please allow me to get the excuses and apologies out of the way. Let’s see… what works as good excuses… I’ve been busy with work? Busy with the Etsy store? Too lazy to use the old camera and upload pics? Yes, I will use those. 😉

After the last few months of fighting with the supercamera, I finally got a new one with which I can more easily take quality pictures. Now, if only I could figure out the lighting situation. Outside is too bright, inside is too flourescent dim, feelin’ like Goldilocks up in here. :p I am thinking about dragging my set up to the park and making use of their picnic tables and shade. Too bad I can’t bring the cat too. He is my most fequently photographed subject, much to his dismay.

Recently, I have also been working on repainting a bright pink, dollhouse type bakery into a swanky, pseudo victorian lounge cafe. The project is slowly coming along, emphasis on the slowly, as it is quite tedious work with the tiny details and cramped corners. Also, I have been repainting dollar store dollhouse furniture to match the cafe. After the paint job, I will pick out some new curtains. :p

Thanks for stoppin’ by, more to come soon. For real this time!

¡¡ Long Overdue Update !! – Sweets yaaaay!

This is the third of the update posts, I saved the best for last ^_^ Before continuing though, I just want to say thanks again for coming back, and don’t worry, I won’t do a triple update like this again any time soon ^_^;; Without further ado, on with the show!

I love love love this piece! It's a chocolate cake roll with some fruit slices on the top.

Here we have tiny pink macaron with some embellishments on the top. It's so cute, that I even put one on my cell phone (with the rest of the charm family :P)

Rainbow Cake. You know, I really like rainbows, but I am afraid if I make too much rainbow stuff, it'll scare people away, so I try and keep it to minimum. This though, has to be one of my favorite pieces so far.

Project T.A.R.T. is complete :3 This is *the first* successful, realistic looking tart. I am so proud of this piece that I have it sitting on my desk so I can look at it from time to time. This is really easy to replicate, so if I need to make more I can. yay TARTS!

Next time I hope to have some Sailor Moon stuff, seeing as how it’s  been so popular thus far, and quite frankly I heart making those items as much as cakes. Ciao! ( ̄▽ ̄)ノ_彡☆バンバン!!

¡¡ Long Overdue Update !! – Resin

Recently I got into a new (for me) type of creations – – Resin. For the uninitiated, basically it’s creating plastic-type charms with some kind of sticker paper or image inside of it, and lots of glitter ^_^ This works for me ’cause I ❤ glitter! Anyways, here are a few of the resin pieces I’ve made. There will be a lot more posted in the future, when I can perfect their looks. 🙂

Everyone loves Rilakumma ^_^ I got a sleepy time sticker set and this is one of my favorites from it.

These are some of the first pieces I made. The two oval shaped ones my mom swiftly claimed as her own when she saw them. :p The other two are characters from Sentimental Circus, which is a Hello Kitty type franchise, but darker.

Pac-Man and Ghosty friends. I had made a Mrs. Pac-Man as well, but she got stuck to the crafting board (aka "the slab"). The Ghosties will go on keychains as is, and Pac-Man will be made to look like he is trying to eat the dots.

¡¡ Long Over Due Update !! – Chibis

(^-^*)/コンチャ! Hi friends, DecoJenn here, apologizing for yet another long time period between posts. Thanks everyone for hangin’ in there and comin’ back to check out what’s new. There are going to be a few update posts this time, so please don’t mind your notifications going off for each one ^_^;;

A few weeks ago, I decided that my Chibi making capabilities were a little… subpar. So I spent a couple weeks following tutorials and here are the results!

Disney's Mulan, in the style of Flying Mio's tutorial. She was a lot of fun to make. :)

Water, in all it's elegance. The white and green on the dress are sea foam and sea weed. This one was fun to make, but I wish I had spent more time on her hair.

Spirit, lastly. This one did not come from a tutorial, I made it after having sent an image to a friend of the other four elements, and she asked "where's spirit?". ;) Here it is now~!

We’ve reached the end of the newest additions to the Chibi family. Too bad none of them can really hang out in the cafe’ with Sailor Moon, Batman and Catwoman :p

** Update 04/11/14 **

^_^ Hi everyone! Sorry it’s been so so long!! It’s been super busy around here with Spring time rearranging, experimenting cooking new dishes (if people are interested in blogs on my homemade vegetarian cuisine meals, lemme know and I will start making recipe posts), and learning how to make new craft stuff!!

Coming soon, we have TONS of resin pieces, lots of chibis, and a few food items that are super cute!

Also next week I plan to get an Etsy shop up and running. Many many folks have asked if I have one, so there will be a store soon due to popular demand! 🙂

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend and thanks for checking back at DecoJenn 😀

❅❅Cakes, Rolls, and Some Mini-Dinner❅❅

As I was going through images on the computer in search of a new Gravatar, I found some pics that I totally forgot I uploaded to the computer So, I apologize for the lateness of these!

Sorry for the inconsistency of the brightness and clearness of the images. These were taken during the days of the Great Camera Wars. >.< (The camera, flash and I have since come to a truce, as you can see in the last blog post :D)

Have a nice day, everyone! See ya next time!

❅☃ Post Holiday Update :D ☃❅

(‘-‘*)オヒサ♪ Long time, no see.

We had some very busy holidays around here in Deco-Kitty central.(´~`)

In the past couple months, I have made ~65 batches of chili (Jk, it’s prolly closer to 8, but it feeeeels like more), been on multiple road trips, gone through 2 fits of a bad cold, met multiple members of my boyfriend’s family (*≧▽≦)オハツでっす♪, planted herbs for cooking with, and began the Spring cleaning. Phew!

Anyways, enough rambling, on with the show!

The first piece is a character from Monster High, Abbey Bominable, the daughter of the Yeti. Unbeknownst to most of my friends, I really like the Abominable Snowman, Jack Frost, the Snow Queen, and other characters that deal with coldness/ice/snow, though I am not sure why since I can’t stand cold weather. xD So, given that fun fact, I decided to craft this character first for my upcoming Monster High series, because she’s my favorite character so far.

Yay first image which I tried to add a little extra flair to the foreground :) I am trying to make my pictures look better.

Yay! first image which I added a little extra flair to the foreground 🙂 I am trying to make my pictures look better, hopefully it works.

Of course I couldn’t stay away from making Sailor Moon stuff for long, right?

This is Sailor ChibiMoon's Crystal Carillon. I carefully crafted it so that the bells rings clearly ^_^

The sword on the left is called Kaleidomoon Scope (not sure why). I've really liked that weapon and always wanted a miniature toy version of it, so I got to make my own ^_^ On the left is Sailor Venus' transformation wand.

I made two bells and two Chibimoon wands so I can keep one and give the other to a friend. She also ordered the Sailor Venus wand and a few other things. (’-’*) フフ Big shout out to Cam-O-Chan for the encouragement and support!!!

When I showed my boyfriend the Sailor Moon sword, he reminded me that he had requested an Adventure Time sword, but that was right around when I first started crafting with clay, and I had forgotten since then |・ω・`)コッショリ So I figured after I made me a sword, I would make him a sword, which means we both got swords! Yay! Sword fight!

The next pictures were taken with the cell phone, so I apologize for the quality. They were gifted as Christmas presents or had to be delivered quickly before I decided to take on the camera again.

These were given to my BF's twin sisters. I think they came out really adorable

The reason I made this is because the BF's grandma crafted him a quilt for Christmas. It was even featured in a quilt show! Anyways, since she was giving the quilt to him, I wanted to try and replicate the pattern on clay for her :) She loves Mickey Mouse so I combined the two for this piece.

And lastly, in honor of the Chinese/Lunar New Year, we have some lucky red envelopes that will be given to my friends when I see them 😀

It was a lot of fun painting the pictures on these. In fact, so much fun that I had contemplated making another batch!
